The best thing to do is buy a very cheap camera and use the SD card from the current one to take the photos and then when you get back get in contact with the insurance company to get the broken camera replaces immediatly. This will not actually allow you to get the money back from the camera you purchased out there but it will allow you to get back that expensive camera of yours totally free of charge.

Have a look at the insurance policy you currently have, yea it may be boring to read but it could be that you are not covered if you are away on holiday so it is always best to check.
